2008 Learn To Skate Lesson Program

Learn to skate with the Flyers Skate Zone's professional instructors. We teach the United States Figure Skating (USFS) Basic Skills Program, which has been developed as a beginning ice skating program that is challenging and rewarding - but most of all fun. Participation in the program will enable skaters of all ages and levels to learn the fundamentals of ice skating and the opportunity to go on to be a competitive or recreational figure skater or hockey player.

Basic Skills levels 1-8 (Learn to Skate)
Beginner skaters are introduced to the basic skating techniques in a safe and controlled environment.

Each class session and level following Basic 1 is progressive, building upon skills taught in the previous lesson. Six-week skating classes continue from Basic 2 to Basic 8. Learn To Play Hockey program is also available to the aspiring hockey player following graduation from Basic 1.

Snowplow Sam for Tots levels 1-3
Those ages six and under are placed into the USFS Snowplow Sam program. This program is designed to help pre-school aged children develop the preliminary coordination and strength necessary to maneuver on skates. Parents are welcome and encouraged to participate in the lesson with their children! Snowplow Sam has three progressive levels that will help the young skater develop confidence while experiencing success with his or her beginning skating!

Freestyle levels 1-6
Freestyle levels one through six are for advanced skaters that have completed Basic Skills one through eight.
Lessons will include more advanced techniques including jumps and spins!

Adult skills levels 1-4
Adults skills level one through four are for beginner to intermediate adult skaters
looking to develop and improve basic ice skating skills. 

Levels are progressive and must be completed in order.
Each level meets once per week for six weeks.
All classes include 1/2 hour lesson and 1/2 hour practice time.

$120.00 registration fee includes a USFS membership and 6 FREE Public Skating passes!

Learn to Skate Policies and Suggestions:

Make-up Policy: Due to our dedication to keep our class sizes small, we will be unable to issue make-up classes.
Refund Policy: No refunds will be given. The only exception to this rule will be for students in the Snowplow Sam program. Any Snowplow Sam student cancelling after the first or second class will be charged a $10.00 processing fee as well as $10.00 per class attended. After the second class, there will be no refunds.
Level Evaluation: During the first two weeks of class, our professional staff will evaluate skaters based upon age and ability to ensure that they are in the correct class.
Helmets: Helmets are optional, but strongly recommended, especially for tots and beginners.
Skates: Should be comfortable but snug. Skates should be slightly smaller than shoe size.
Clothing: Warm, layered, comfortable clothing and gloves are recommended (sweaters and sweatshirts are preferable to bulky jackets).
